Who is most likely to have a Facelift?

Now more and more women and men are appreciating that a facelift could be the answer for them. The “plastic” or pulled look that was the signature of a facelift of old is no longer the result being obtained. In fact, often no one can tell that you have had a facelift, yet you can look up to ten years younger and look younger naturally.

Any man or woman that wants to improve the visible signs of aging in the face and neck are eligible candidates for a Facelift.  The loss of youthful contours in the face can be due to variety of factors including loss of volume, thinning of the skin, sun damage, smoking, stress, as well as heredity.

What are some common visible signs of aging in the face and neck?
  • Sagging resulting from the relaxation of the skin

  • Loss of volume in cheeks

  • Jowls developing in the jawline

  • Loose skin and excess fat of the neck that can appear as a double chin or "turkey neck"

What is the average cost of a facelift?

$7500 - $10,000.00

How long does Facelift last?

There are many factors that go into how long a Facelift will last.  You have to consider things like the skill of the surgeon, genetics, age at which you have the Facelift completed, how well you stick to recommended post-op care as well as maintenance through lifestyle and diet.

Speaking in general terms, darker, healthier skin typically shows longer lasting results compared to individuals who have fairer skin or some skin damage.  Also, because overall health and elasticity of skin is important, a patient undergoing Facelift surgery before 60-65 years of age, will enjoy the benefits for a longer period of time.

Of course, another factor of how long a Facelift will last depends on what you have done.  The more invasive of a surgery you have, the longer the results will last.  One can’t expect to have minimal done and have the same effects of having a full facelift, which provides the most dramatic results.  A full Facelift lasts and average of 10 to 15 years post procedure.

Who will you see for your consultation and who will perform the Facelift?

He has performed every cosmetic surgical procedure many times over, and brings to each patient the ability to discuss and fully explain all the options possible to reach the desired result. The choice of technique and how far to take a procedure is yours. Together, you and he can make the decision of what procedure and how much change should be used to achieve the balanced, pleasing effect that reflects nature’s most beautiful work.

In choosing your plastic surgeon, it is important to know that all “certification” credentials are not equal. It is theoretically possible for any doctor—including one with virtually no surgical experience—to obtain a “board certification” in cosmetic surgery in a short period of time. By contrast, certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery requires a physician to complete residencies in both general and plastic surgery, practice plastic surgery for at least two years, pass exhaustive written and oral examinations, and adhere to a strict code of ethics.

In fact, ABPS is the only certifying board of plastic surgery recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties, the organization supported by the American Medical Association to certify specialists. ABPS certification is a credential with meaning.  Dr. Magassy is one of 48 plastic surgeons in the United States that is certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery and The American Board of Surgery.
